Agrigento What To Do
You can not go to Agrigento without visiting the stunning greek Valle Dei Templi, this is one of the views that will be impressed in your mind forever.
This is the largest archaeological site in the world, no kidding!!
The visit can start from the Rupe Atenea, which houses the remains of the temple of Demeter, built around 470 BC and incorporated into the medieval church of San Biagio.
There are many things to visit like the temple of Aesculapius and then the immense area of the temple of Zeus. You will be amazed!
The museum of Agrigento is the place where you will find some of the most precious statues and goods from the greek and roman times.
The city center of Agrigento is built on a hill that overlooks the sea, it is an Arab looking historical center, where you can find the influence of the Arabic culture.
The little roads are always leading to something special in this town, it is not hard to find a little square with a beautiful bench and people talking while looking at the beautiful landscapes this city has to offer.
Piazza Gallo is a neo-Gothic style square, and a little further on is the church of San Giuseppe which dates back to the 1700s.
On Piazza Pirandello, stands the Municipal Palace which houses the foyer of the Pirandello theater.

Food In Agrigento
Food in Sicily is probably the best in the whole country, Agrigento, of course, will serve food meant for the gods.
You will end up gaining some weight in Sicily that’s for sure because food is the best of the best.
There are many typical dishes in Agrigento, and probably just to mention one we can talk about the Timballo di Maccheroni del Gattopardo.
Seafood in Agrigento is delicious, we are in a beach town and people in Sicily is very obsessed with fresh and awesome fish.
There are other dishes typical from here like Maccu di Fave which is a soup made off Fava beans.
Everywhere you go in Sicily and in particular in Agrigento you can find little shacks on the street selling le Panelle.
This is a very poor snack but le Panelle are tasty round pancakes made of chickpea flour. You can eat them in between a sandwich, or with meat or just as a snack like chips.
Arancini and Cannoli Siciliani will be of course all over Sicily and in Agrigento, you can find them for sure and they will be delicious.
